"I've got tabs from everyone over the years but you do the best job I've ever seen"" Terry, Oregon
Many well known tune books are hard to read because the music is written so small. Other fiddle tune collections show only notes without bowing markings, or show bowing notations that either don't work or do not sound good . Fiddlers know that notes are only half of the fiddling sound. Unless you are a very experienced player, you may not know how to make the bowing sound good.
"Oldtime Tunes for Fiddle and Mandolin, Volume 1" is different. Each tune is written in large, easy to read type. Standard music notation for fiddlers with mandolin tablature for mandolinists. Bowing markings are accurate, making sure the tunes will sound good. Now you can play together with your favorite fiddler or mandolin player.
"Oldtime Tunes for Fiddle and Mandolin, Volume 1" is great for beginning and intermediate players. There are many common jam session tunes played everywhere in easy to moderate arrangements.

Reviews and Comments about Old Time Tunes for Fiddle and Mandolin (Volumes 1 and 2)
Review from Devil's Box Magazine, Winter 1996
"This book (Volume 2) contains a very impressive variety of material. We encourage all who read this review to look carefully at the titles contained in this book. That particular tune (or tunes) you've been looking for in printed version may very well be found in this collection."
Also, having played through quite a few of the arrangements in this volume, it should be emphasized that Peter Martin has done an exceptional job in putting this material together with logical and appropriate settings for each individual selection. We mention this, of course, because these are the necessary ingredients for a truly worthwhile tune collection.
Everyone who obtains this handsome volume will no doubt share our enthusiasm for Peter Martin's choice of material and arrangements. This book is highly recommended. - Frank Maloy
As a resource in any acoustic musicians library, you can save yourself aggravation by having the 2 volumes handy in your music room. Volume 1 covers 50 bluegrass warhorses. Volume 2 is packed with chestnuts like Angeline the Baker, Cuckoo's Nest and Ragtime Annie and are presented in the same clear style as Volume 1. Idaho Bluegrass Association Newsletter, February 1987
At $15.00 per book, I have yet to see anything in print approaching the value of this fine set of fiddle tunes. Brad Pinkerton
